GES Grizzlies, learn all about your new Performance Report coming in 2027โ28!
Starting in school year 2027โ28, all DoDEA elementary schools โ including GES โ will use a brand-new kind of report card. Instead of just a letter grade like "B" or a number like "82%", you'll get a Performance Report that tells exactly what you know and can do in each subject. It's clearer, fairer, and designed to help you know how you're growing! ๐
Does that mean you're bad at multiplication? Or that you forgot to turn in some homework? Or that you had a rough day on one test? It's hard to tell! A single letter mixes together lots of different things โ and it doesn't show what you've actually learned.
You'll see exactly how you're doing on each group of math skills โ like "multiplying and dividing" or "understanding fractions." If you're great at one thing and still working on another, both will show up clearly. And your effort and responsibility? Those get reported separately, so your hard work always gets recognized!
Instead of A, B, C, D, F โ you'll get a score from 1 to 4. Here's what each one means:
You might wonder โ "Can I get a 5?" The scale goes up to 4 because a 4 means you've fully met the goal for your grade level. If you're doing amazing advanced work, your teacher will write about it in comments and make sure you get extra challenges through special programs. Your brilliance still gets recognized! ๐
You'll see separate scores for groups of skills inside each subject. In math, for example, you might see scores for "Multiplication and Division", "Fractions", "Measurement", and "Geometry" โ each one separately! And you'll see how you're doing quarter by quarter, so you can watch yourself grow over the school year.
There's a space on your Performance Report where your teacher can tell your family more about you as a learner โ your strengths, what you're working on, and what steps come next. It's like a personalized message just for you and your family.
On your new report, four "learning superpowers" are reported separately from your academic scores. This means your effort, responsibility, and teamwork always get seen โ they're never hidden inside a grade!
Taking care of your materials, following expectations, managing your time, and using technology the right way.
Getting started on your own, staying curious, trying new things, and not giving up when something is hard.
Managing your feelings, keeping going when things get tough, and using feedback to get better.
Being a great teammate, listening to others, sharing responsibility, and working together toward shared goals.
You do this all on your own, all the time โ even in new situations!
You're getting more consistent! Sometimes you need a little reminder.
You're working on this! With support and practice, you'll keep growing.
In the old system, a bad grade at the beginning of a unit could drag your average down โ even after you learned the material! In the new system, your level shows where you are now, based on your most recent work. So if you struggled in September but nailed it in November, that growth shows!
When your teacher gives you practice activities and homework, those are for learning โ not for scoring. You're allowed to make mistakes while you're still figuring things out. Only the "official" tests at the end of a unit count toward your performance level.
If you didn't do well on a test, but then your teacher taught you again and you practiced more, you can show your new learning! Your teacher will give you a chance to demonstrate what you know now โ not what you knew before.
The new Performance Report starts in School Year 2027โ28. Right now, your teachers are learning all about it so they can help you understand it when the time comes. Your current report card stays the same for now. But the skills that will make you shine on the new report card? You're already building them every day at GES! ๐ป
