Your Child's Report Card
Is Getting Better

Starting School Year 2027โ€“28, GES will use a new Kโ€“5 Performance Report โ€” designed to give your family a clearer, fairer, and more consistent picture of how your child is learning.

๐Ÿป
๐Ÿ’ก

Why is this changing?

Traditional letter grades mix together academic mastery, homework completion, effort, and behavior โ€” making it hard to know what a grade actually means. Our military-connected families also move frequently, and grades mean different things at different schools. The new Performance Report uses one clear, consistent system across every DoDEA school worldwide, so your family always has an accurate picture of where your child stands.

The New Scale

๐Ÿ“Š One Simple Scale for Every Subject, Every Grade

4
Meeting the Standard โœ…
Consistent, independent mastery โ€” including applying skills in new situations. This is the end-of-year goal for all students.
3
Approaching ๐Ÿ“ˆ
Shows most grade-level skills; needs occasional support. Strong progress toward the standard.
2
Progressing ๐Ÿ”„
Learning is happening with guided support. Understanding is actively growing.
1
Emerging ๐ŸŒฑ
Early stages; frequent support is needed. Teacher will provide targeted help.
What's Different

๐Ÿ”„ Old System vs. New System

โŒ Old
โ€ขOne grade mixes mastery, effort & behavior
โ€ข"B" means something different at every school
โ€ขEarly low scores drag down the average
โ€ขHard to know if child is truly ready for next grade
โœ… New
โ€ขAcademic mastery reported separately from behavior
โ€ข"3" means the same at every DoDEA school worldwide
โ€ขLevel shows where child is NOW, not an average
โ€ขClear picture of grade-level standards mastery
Learning Behaviors

โญ Essential Learner Attributes โ€” Reported Separately

Your child's academic score and their learning behaviors are always reported separately โ€” so hard work and great habits are always clearly visible and never hidden inside a grade.

๐Ÿ“‹
Responsibility
Manages time & materials
โšก
Self-Starter
Initiative & curiosity
๐Ÿง˜
Self-Management
Effort & feedback use
๐Ÿค
Collaboration
Teamwork & empathy

PCSing? Your Child's Rights Are Protected by the Military Interstate Compact (MIC3)

When you PCS to a stateside school, the receiving school is required under MIC3 to honor your child's GES placement, program enrollment, grade level, and IEP/504 services โ€” regardless of grading format differences. The new Performance Report's clear, standards-based language actually makes transfers easier, not harder. GES will provide hand-carried records so enrollment is never delayed. Contact your installation School Liaison Officer for transition support โ€” it's a free service.
